A home for Nicholas
We did it
On 24th May 2019 we successfully raised £480 with 23 supporters in 34 days

To house Nicholas, a penniless, homeless 61 year old Georgian monk staying at Labre House which is very basic and in which he feels unsafe

Nicholas has been coming to St. Bride’s for a few months now. We got to know him better when he came on our recent 6 day pilgrimage and can say, hand on heart, that he is a lovely man. He left Georgia in 2014 because he did not feel safe there after whistleblowing, and has been traveling ever since, visiting many different countries. I know Liverpool is trying to do its best with Labre House, but he says that in all that time it’s the worst place he’s stayed in. As a failed asylum seeker he has no access to public funds and is destitute. The hope is that a room can be found for him somewhere - probably bargain basement in a shared house. £200 a month might be enough, with luck, but he has to eat so I’ve initially asked for £600 which might get him through 2 months.

15th May update - To let you lovely people know that Nicholas is about to start his 3rd night in a hostel. It's not the answer but is so much better than Labre House which he is extremely pleased to be away from.

Update#2 - Nicholas has now got 8 nights booked in the hostel starting tonight. What he would really love to do is stay for a while in a Christian community.

Final update. 22nd May. This crowdfunder will close very shortly. Many many thanks to all who have so kindly donated. Nicholas is about to have his 11th and 12th nights in the hostel thanks to you but after that the future is uncertain. We are meeting with a representative of Rooms for Refugees tomorrow and hope they can do something.
