“A is for Abel”
My name is Sadie.
If you are reading this then perhaps the title or idea caught your attention!
I am 26, living in Bristol. Currently working full time with the last 3 years experience behind me working in a vets.
The idea I have for this story is based around one of my rabbits who very sadly had to be put to sleep back in August of this year. After contracting a mystery illness, having surgery but not quite fully recovering from the anaesthetic (and rapidly decreasing in health over a period of 3 weeks) it was no longer conceivable that he may survive without constant assistance.
Abel was my everything.
He gave me purpose and love through dark personal times of my own, and I always said if something happened to him I wouldn’t know what to do with myself.
After Abel passed away I felt lost. I still feel lost and miss him everyday.
The care I gave him.. the little furry friend to talk too when I felt I had nobody else suddenly disappeared, this was terrible feeling.
Over time I had the idea of making something in his memory at the back of my mind. Something that hopefully with part of the proceeds I could give back to others who have struggled with dark times.
My aim with this project is not only to assist my grieving period long term , but to eventually give me the opportunity financially from any proceeds I hopefully make to give back and say thank you to charities such as Mind and The Samaritans.. good people who listened to me in my own time of need, and of course also to local rabbit charities who may be in need of extra funds to improve facilities and treatment services for rescues.
I have never written a story before, nor have I illustrated one.. However I have always loved to draw and paint, and I have a great idea to making this story educational- teaching children the alphabet whilst telling a story of Abel’s habbits and adventures.
Ideally once the story board is complete I’d like to have a hard copy made and get it advertised online. I’ve no idea how much this would incur hence the £100 aim is very minimal, all donations will go towards actual costs for making the book and publishing it. If anybody has any advice or experience I would greatly accept any help I can get!
Thank you for taking the time to read this and any donations you may send to me to help this dream become a reality.
