Hello! I'm looking to raise money in order to be able to exhibit my artworks in the Anima Mundi Festival this summer!

Hi Everyone!

First of all, I’d like to say thank you for visiting my crowdfunder page!

My name is Alicia France and I am an artist based in Newcastle upon Tyne and have recently been given the opportunity to exhibit my work in the Anima Mundi festival in Venice. I’ve produced and studied art all my life and strongly feel that my ambition of becoming a full time artist is my only path.

This is an amazing chance for me to expand my audience as an artist and could be an invaluable step towards my career. As many artists reading this will know, trying to gain any exposure for your art in order for it to be noticed is so important yet incredibly  difficult.

A bit of background

Originally from Rochdale, I come from a working class background which, as proud as I am of that, can be hard when it comes to having certain opportunities, especially in the art world. As we all know, it is incredibly ruthless, so when an opportunity arises to exhibit work in one of the art capitals of the western world, I feel I have to take it!

I studied art from GCSE, to A level and finally my art degree at Newcastle University where I learned the process of printmaking and etching.

My focus in art is people. Whether we love them or hate them, they make good art!

The portrait, to me, is one of the most fascinating forms of art and I aim to revitalise it with inspiration from art history and the realities of modern life. I do believe that the simplest and most ordinary of things, moments and people can make the most beautiful and interesting art. I'm very passionate about making art that tells the story of an individual and immortalising them through strokes of paint. For the past 4 years I have mainly worked with oil on aluminium. I just love the way the paint brush glides on the surface along with the contrasting elements of cold metal and fleshy tones!

Anima Mundi Festival

So! Back to the festival. The Anima Mundi/ ITSLIQUID International Art Festival is a series of exhibitions including all types of art and will be presented until November this year. The focus of the festival is the concept of Anima Mundi 'that according to several historical cultures, religions and philosophical systems, is an intrinsic connection between all living entities on the planet, which relates to the world in a similar way as the human soul is connected to the human body.'

Of course, exhibiting work in galleries can mean a fee. Along with the fee to confirm my placement in the exhibition is the cost of the plane flights to get there and the cost of transporting the paintings there and back again. It’s quite a chunk but I feel I would strongly regret it if I didn’t make this leap. That’s why I’m asking you to help with your donations. No donation is too small and I will be eternally grateful for your support!

Of course, I am very happy to give back in return for contributions.

For £50 I offer you a signed limited etching print of your choice. All prints are around 10 x 10 cm in size and are printed on quality Somerset paper.

For £150 I offer you a personalised miniature painting of a loved one, yourself or even your pet! These are specialised portraits of around 6 cm in diameter and were very popular in Elizabethan England. They are one of my favourite forms of art because they are small, precious and intimate.

Thank you so much once again for your time in taking a look at my page and your generosity will be much appreciated.
