Bilsington is a rural village in the heart of East Kent and it has changed over the last decade. There are now more elderly people than before, but on the other hand, as we are within easy reach of London, we have recently welcomed an influx of young families.
Our Achievements So Far
We have already improved the usability of the Hall, including making it warmer (thank you Calor Gas!), more weatherproof and new toilets, being refurbished now, will allow full disabled access for the first time.
Projects Recently Completed
Weatherboard replaced
Ceiling replaced
Activities
The Hall hosts a variety of activities, two Art Groups who both hold Art Shows, Yoga, Plays, Puppet Shows, Comedy Shows, Children's parties and activities, An Annual Fruit Flower and Vegetable Show, Christmas Wreath making classes, Christmas Fairs, Low Impact Circuit Classes, to name but a few.
The Floor
However, the floor is not strong enough to allow some of the more physical and health improving activities that local small businesses run, for example, boxing fitness training, Zumba, children’s dance classes, Step exercises, and Circuit Training, all of which have been enthusiastically used by people from the Village and surrounding villages. These classes have moved elsewhere impacting our income and lessening the usefulness of the Hall to our customers.
