I bought a house in Kingston at the end of last year, moved in just before Christmas and then was horrified to receive the planning proposals for this monstrous blot on the landscape. My conveyancing solicitors (who have their offices on the High Street, opposite Jamie's Italian restaurant) had neglected to unearth/reveal this highly significant proposal in their searches!! Incidentally, I live on Wheatfield Way, directly opposite the condemned site. If this plan goes ahead, I will never see the sky again from my front windows, which are north-facing and therefore truly need every ray of daylight available, believe me! On a less personal note, I am so thrilled to be a new (long-term!) resident of this charming historic town and I am certain that this development would be extremely detrimental to Kingston in every possible way. See you at the Guild Hall tomorrow at 19:00 hours!

Riverside Residents Association have strongly objected to the proposals in their current and previous forms. The St George proposals have never addressed the needs nor the views of the community, they have ignored the views of some 20 opposing groups and have catastrophically failed to meet their own aspiration for a landmark gateway tower - offering instead banal and cliched solutions for their over development of a sensitive and important site. It is developer greed at its most blatant and immoral with a deliberate and cynical disregard for the people of Kingston.

Chickens wouldn't be kept in such an over crowded environment. This is a project for the rich and greedy to get richer, without thinking of the actual consequences on mental health, environment, noise pollution, light and sun blocking, and the well being of residents already close. There is no need for expensive housing in Kingston esp not tower blocks! We have tons of in-affordable homes already in this borough, even the 'affordable' ones are being subsidised by housing benefit, money going straight into the hands of the already wealthy. Why are land lords not means tested to see if they need the councils benefit money, I'm sure they wouldn't qualify!!!!

Representation of local residents is important. That's why I am supporting this campaign.

Thank you for the enormous effort you are making on behalf of Kingston residents who appreciate the nature of the town and want to prevent more over-development of this historic area

I hope this helps to ensure Councilors get the facts about how The Old Post Office Site current plans go against many rules and guidelines. Stop current plans to downgrade Kingston upon Thames.

Thank you to all those who have worked tirelessly on this campaign to raise awareness of just how inappropriate this plan is for Kingston. The character of this town will be transformed. We need development, but not at this scale. The plans are ugly, bulky, tall and our infrastructure just will not cope with this density of homes built on such a small space. We would like to know at what cost do we need this scale of build here? Mill Street Residents' Association

Money well spent!

The fact that a senior council officer is recommending a planning application for approval on the basis that the sky is a "void" to be filled is enough evidence that this proposal should be turned down.

Very impressed by your continuing efforts to present well reasoned arguments against the proposed development. Hopefully the engagement of a qualified legal professional to deploy these to best effect will get the campaign over the line ...

Many thanks for doing all you can to save Kingston from the fate that has befallen so much of historic London and beyond. It would be tragedy should the current development proposals be approved.

I believe that development in Kingston should be sympathetic to the town's status as an ancient market town and the heart of a Royal Borough. this proposal is monstrous, grotesque and should not be approved.
