We need to raise enough capital to purchase a La Marzocco Linea (see the video above) that will ensure we maximise the flavour from our multi award winning Square Mile coffee!

About Us

We are four Shropshire brothers; Reuben, Josh, Ben and Adam Crouch who are launching CSONS, a cafe/restaurant specialising in globally inspired, locally sourced seasonal food and drink, which will be opening on Milk Street, Shrewsbury in mid June. We are transforming an old Tudor tea room into a new and exciting venue that showcases our love of all things food and drink.

For the Brothers Crouch, food is a passion which has been with us since our early years when our father’s work took the family all over the world. Each of us has followed our own journey though the world of food and CSONS is the culmination of over half a century of combined experience.

Reuben is and will remain the Commercial Director of Hobsons Brewery and was formerly General Manager of the award winning Ludlow Food Centre. He brings a wealth of sustainable, seasonal produce-sourcing knowledge and an awe-inspiring address book of suppliers to the enterprise. The objective is to work with many of the incredible local producers, but we're not afraid to look further afield in pursuit of the best.

Josh, Head Chef at CSONS established himself as Clive Davies’ right-hand man at Ludlow’s Michelin-listed Green Café. His emphasis is on simple, unpretentious dishes that are full of flavour and easy for anyone to taste and enjoy. The food will reflect his understanding of seasonal produce and diverse culinary influences which include; Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's ethos and holistic view of the role of food, Stevie Parle's (Dock Kitchen, River Café) clever use of spices and Sam and Sam Clark's (Moro, London) championing of North African and Spanish flavours.

Ben, Manager at CSONS, previously worked as head chef at East London’s renowned Pavillion Café under Brett Redman (Elliot’s, Borough Market). Here, Ben also worked with some of the UK’s top baristas, and this is where he developed his passion for coffee. The relationship he established with the multi-award winning Square Mile Roasters continues, as they will be supplying our coffee. Returning to Shropshire, he took the reins at Ludlow Kitchen which was being redeveloped by the Ludlow Food Centre. Here, Ben’s stewardship has resulted in the soaring success of this stylish, spacious eatery.

Adam, Front of House at CSONS has a wealth of restaurant experience having worked for some well known high street eateries. He has travelled widely and his experiences of Australia and Asia add to the diversity of the menu and the atmosphere.

We believe our customers feel welcome at any time of day, whether it’s to have a coffee and cake with friends, enjoy a bit of time out or to indulge themselves in a culinary adventure at lunch or dinner.”

Initially the restaurant will be opening during the day, seven days a week for breakfast, coffees and lunch. There is space for about 60 covers and facilities for private dining, celebrations and large parties. Evening opening is planned for later in the year. The premises are fully licensed and will offer a carefully selected range of wines and local beers and ciders.
