During our original crowdfunding campaign, we successfully raised £4,455 with 28 wonderful supporters. We are now continuing to accept donations to keep repairs going. Find out more about our original plans below.
This is a community project to raise money to refurbish our village Institute and bring it back to its former glory. It is no longer fit for purpose and in desperate need of renovation as you will see in the video.
The Institute was built 100 years ago and has served the community as a hub, hosting everything from parties and weddings to farmers meetings and primary school plays. However it is in dire need of repair. The toilets; well, let's not go there and you wouldn't want to either.. the heating system, kitchen, electrics and bar area are of particular concern, because with any further deterioration the school won't have anywhere for P.E. lessons, and the bookings for parties will drop further than they already have. Also with it being quite isolated living down a valley we aren't able to just pick up an Uber and taxi's are expensive to go to town so it will make it much harder for the farming community to congregate.
The total cost of the project is £250,000 and we have already raised £30,000 within the community itself. We now however need to branch out and ask for help. We aim to raise the bulk of the funding through charitable trust funds and we have come to crowd funding to ask for £28,000 to help furnish and equip the building with a kitchen, cutlery, curtains, chairs, a stage for the school etc.
For every £100 or more you donate, you will get a chair with your name on it, and for £500 or more, your name will be on a slate plaque on the entrance to the building.
Any donation would be much appreciated and we hope that you will come and visit us sometime in this wonderful landscape.
