Girls Can learn new skills! We are a mixed Girlguiding unit consisting of 70 Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers/Young Leaders.
Girlguiding has just undergone a massive programme renewal . Our new programme delivers the fun and varied range of activities that you expect from guiding, and of course, there’s still plenty of badges to earn. We've seen the introduction of new topics, new skills and new ways for girls to broaden their horizons.

There are six themes: Know Myself, Express Myself, Be Well, Have Adventures, Take Action and Skills for the Future. Throughout the themes the skills are staged 1 - 6 with the younger members starting at Stage 1 and as they get older they build on the skills they have learnt through the stages. Along side the Skill builders there are also Theme badges and lots of interest badges they earn as they work through their programme the end achievement is the Section Gold Award Challenge.
Girls are encouraged to think for themselves and work in small groups which make them independent as well gaining valuable skills in teamwork and leadership.

The new programme is a breath of fresh air, especially to a mixed unit, however, to provide resources for a growing unit is putting a strain on finances.

We would like to be able to subsidise the cost of the new books for the girls, as well as to purchase unit hoodies, so when we are out, everyone can feel they belong to our community and guiding family. This will be worn as well as their section uniform.
