To purchase Grappling Dummy's and training equipment to allow a phased return to youth and player development due to COVID-19.
Our intention is to continually support our young athletes to compete at the highest level around the world providing them with excellent opportunities and life experiences through sport.
* Grappling Dummy's to enable individual training and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
* Mats to further extend our training area so more children can return to training sooner.
* Wall padding to ensure Health & Safety within the new working area.
* Mobile mats to allow participation within schools creating an active pathway into the club.
Below is a picture of our Dojo and the second empty squash court area which will require matting and wall padding prior to use.
These are examples of the Grappling Dummy's required to enable us to return to training. They will allow players to concentrate on their technique and fitness without the need for a physical partner therefore social distancing guidelines can be adhered to.
We currently have over 240 members and prior to COVID-19 were running over 50 classes per week. We have an exceptional Junior Competition Team and are home to 10 Junior World Champions, 16 Junior European Champions and 18 Junior National Champions across both Gi and No-Gi. Although lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease a return to Jiu Jitsu as we know it is still a long way off and we have to find a new way of working. With this equipment and expanded area we aim to continue to produce Champions of the future and to work with schools and the community by improving children's physical, mental health and overall wellbeing.
The cost of the project is in the region of £5,000. We have reached out to agencies for further funding but need to show our passion and commitment by raising some of the funds ourselves. As a club we have already started fundraising by organising a raffle, on-line quiz and a sponsored club run/cycle from Durham to Finland, the destination of the ADCC Junior World Championships - we need your help!
This project offers rewards in return for your donation.
