In 2015 I turned 43 the same age as my dear mum when she passed away from secondary Breast Cancer, I had watched her battle for 8 years. I was 16 when she lost her brave battle and struggled to accept my great loss.  Like anyone who has lost a parent at a young age it stays with you and for me it's still very roar today.  At 43 I realised more just how much my mum had missed out on, my wife Helen and my kids Anna and Owen. I decided that in someway I needed to honor her short but beautiful life and raise lots of vital funds for Breast Cancer Now in her name. So the plan of five years of madness came about - This is and will involve me taking on extreme challenges over five years which I started in Sept 2015 by summiting Kilimanjaro the Worlds Highest Freestanding Mountain at 19.700ft. In the video above The greatest explorer alive today Sir Ran Fiennes prepared a supporting video for me which was so helpful in supporting my fundraising. So whats next I fly out to Morocco in three weeks (3rd Feb) to climb two of the highest mountains in the Atlas both at over 14.000ft I also will be taking on the three highest mountains in Spain towards the end of the year date to be confirmed. Then the final but highest mountain will be Mera Peak in the Himalaya's at 21.500ft a stones throw from Everest and the closest I will get. Currently I have raised over £7345 with gift aid for Breast Cancer Now and been funding my expeditions and kit. I am hoping for support to cover my Mera Peak climb allowing me to raise more money for Breast Cancer Now and make a massive statement I could not think of a better place to bring my five years of madness to a close on the summit of Mera Peak looking across at Everest and honoring my mum in that way. I am trying to get support to cover the costs of the Mera Peak Expedition which will come to £3500 for climb and £1500 for kit. It will allow me to continue to raise funds for my chosen charity Breast Cancer Now any funds on crowd funding that exceed £5000 will go directly to Breast Cancer Now. This crowdfunding is separate from my justgiving page.
