For two years we have been running Wellbeing Workshops for children aged 7 to 11 in Barnsley. We have had fantastic feedback from children, parents, teachers about the change it has made within the children. This workshop has become so popular that we now have a 4 month waiting list. We believe that if a child needs help with mental wellbeing in should be provided as soon as possible to avoid any further issues in later life. At present, we are not fulfilling our belief.
We are crowdfunding to raise enough money to allow us to employ further wellbeing specialists to run more sessions and more importantly, for free.
The Workshop currently costs £40 per child, we understand that with all the issues facing parents right now, providing a roof over their child's head and food is where all there money is going and finding this fee is challenging.
If we are successful with this fundraising exercise BMBC will match the funding we raise up to £2000.
The Workshop features different feelings and emotions each week to teach children understanding of their own feelings and to normalise this. We use different techniques including solution focused technique, mindfulness, relaxation, counselling skills and neuroscience.
It is a fun, interactive workshop run by staff that absolutely love what they do.
We are a charity and no funding from this appeal will ever be used for anything other that what it was raised for, we are not for profit.
