Uganda Schools Trust has been active in Western Uganda since 2009, supporting education at three schools - one in Fort Portal, one in Buheesi and one in Kasese. During that time we have sponsored over 50 girls through secondary school provided meals for around 120 children annually during the school year as well as buying books and equipment. Our major project at the moment, however is to build a three storey classroom block at Glorious Preparatory School in Kasese. This School, which has no Government Funding and relies almost entirely on donations from Uganda Schools Trust, caters for the children of people who have been displaced from the Rwenzori Mountain region by rebel activity. Ben Muhindo, a teacher in Uganda funded the original school from his own meagre teacher's salary and with the help of friends but obviously can't sustain this in the long term. Uganda Schools Trust has already brought water to the site, paid for the construction of latrines as well as providing books and equipment. The increase in pupil numbers from 30 in 2009 to 833 in 2018, has lead to an urgent need for further accommodation. The Trust has managed to fund two storeys of a new block but now is desperately in need of extra help to complete the project..The picture below is from March 2018.
