Women's hygiene particularly in the slums, is not well cared for. Subjects such as periods/menzies is not widely talked about and there are still archaic views on the subject. When people do not have enough money for food, they certainly don't have enough for sanitary products. These women will be using (dirty rags) during their periods. A fantastic NGO known as Akaar Innovations creates sanitary napkin machines and create factories within specific regions where the sanitary napkins are sold at a highly discounted price.
We want to raise funds to be able to purchase at least 2019 sanitary napkins in 2019 so we can distribute 168 sanitary napkins each month for the next year, helping the women to stay clean, not have to use dirty rags. Along with Akaar Innovations we will hold sessions where we teach the men and women about women's hygiene so both understand the importance.
Help us to be able to help other women stay clean during their periods and not have to resort to using rags. Remembering that these napkins are 100% biodegradable too.
We managed to hit our £130 target for 2019 sanitary napkins in 2019. However we are still continuing to fund raise as the more funds we raise, the more ways we can look at tackling this issue and the possibility of taking this in to the villages and rural areas and supporting more women and girls.
