Tarka Storm RL was established in 2017 by Armed Forces Veteran, Neil Edwards. At the time, Neil was being medically discharged due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures. Neil was missing the joy of Rugby and set himself a challenge to create a Rugby Team within North Devon.
The aim is to bring rugby league to the district of North and Mid Devon and to offer a safe place for veterans, people who are suffering from mental health or personal setbacks and to those that simply have a passion for rugby.
Like many sporting organisations, Tarka Storm RL has been largely impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic and have suffered a loss of income that would usually be generated by player's subs and membership fees.
TSRL Chairman, Neil Edwards said: “Like many others, we have been largely affected by Coronavirus. We have started a fundraiser to keep our community rugby league club above water during unprecedented times, the club's income has dramatically reduced due to the cancellation of amateur games within the region since Easter 2020. Therefore we have been unable to rely on the regular subs, membership fees from our players and match day contributions. The fundraiser will support the club's overheads and allow us to provide adequate PPE and sanitising stations for our coaching team, players and supporters, provide essential Covid safe improvements to the changing rooms and provide the safest possible environment for all those who attend, in line with Government and RFL guidelines.
The joint initiative pledge provided by Sport England and Crowdfunder will match up to 50% (up to £10K) towards our initial crowdfunding target.
This where you, our valued members and supporters can help.
We understand that these are challenging times following the festive season and given the current circumstances, financial situations may be a little uncertain. Tarka Storm RL would be extremely grateful for any donations, large or small, that may help to bridge the gap financially and see us through the 2021 season.
From the whole of Tarka Storm Rugby League, we thank you for your support!
