The Lab Northampton is part of a national initiative launched by Music Venue Trust to prevent the closure of hundreds of independent music venues.
Our venue faces closure because we are unable to open safely for the forseable future, therefore we have no income and we still have our overheads to pay.
Your donations will be used to continue paying our overheads of £1500 per month and towards preparing the venue and staff to reopen when it is safe to do so.
If we hit our target, and we can prevent the closure of our venue, everything above the amount we need will be donated to the Music Venue Trust GMV Crisis Fund to protect other venues just like ours, right across the country.
- Hello friends and family of The Lab!
We are all missing our wonderful community so much right now, the music, dancing, the friendship, and the good times! We are busy working hard behind the scenes to protect the future of our club, and to create a safe and viable space for when we are eventually able to re-open.
Grassroots music venues are the lifeblood of communities, bringing people together to be inspired to create, dance, sing, learn, laugh, socialise, and relax. The Lab is a place where all people are welcomed to come and express themselves in their most authentic form!
Even before the pandemic we were working to a tight budget to keep our heads above water, and over the last year we have been making changes to put the club in a more sustainable position for the future.
During lockdown we have been able to fully assess all of our operations, to think about our visions for the club, and make exciting and ambitious plans. We will strive to be better equipped to support the well-being of all of our members. We will continue to build a creative hub for local musicians, whilst improving all of our facilities and bringing more exciting touring artists from around the world. We will work harder to engage with our surrounding community, and to provide a safe space that welcomes people of all ages and all cultures.
We are determined to ensure that when we come back it is more organised, better equipped, and stronger than ever!
This is where we have to ask for help. We rely on weekly trade to keep the gigs on-going and the beer flowing, and like most venues it is impossible for us to operate and still maintain a safe environment. Staff, promoters, artists, and crew, are all without work, and we still face monthly overheads and the costs of maintaining the premises. The risk of vital venues and community spaces closing for good gets more real every day, we have an exciting future ahead, but first we must survive!
We are asking please if you are able to donate anything, the price of a round of drinks, or £5 gig entry, whatever you can afford, it will go towards our monthly expenses, keeping us free of debt, and protecting the club until we can once again open our doors to the wonderful community!
Please help us out, thanks and love to you all, The Lab
