New stretch target

Huge thanks to everyone who has supported us by contributing to our defibrillator project.  We are so grateful and appreciate each donation that has been made.

Although we have reached our initial target of £600, which ensures we have sufficient funds to purchase and install the defibrillator equipment, we would love to stretch our target, as any additional funds raised will be put towards ongoing maintenance, annual support costs and replacement equipment.

Our existing funds have been raised through fundraising, a donation, and most appreciatively, from a bequest made by a local resident who specified that the legacy should go towards a defibrillator to ensure the Westmuir community would benefit from the donation.

The Westmuir Defibrillator Group are currently raising funds to provide a 24 hour accessible Semi Automatic Community Public Access Defibrillator (cPAD). The defibrillator will be positioned inside the existing telephone kiosk (which is to be refurbished), located in the heart of our village directly outside the village shop and central to the whole community. There are now over 200 homes within Westmuir with residents encompassing all age groups.

With the main Kirriemuir to Alyth road (A926) running through our village, we believe it is essential to provide emergency aid in the form of a defibrillator, not only to benefit our residents but to provide emergency cover to the wider community.  Our main road sees a large number of delivery lorries, is a school bus route, and has local industrial units and farms close by, which we believe could all benefit from having a defibrillator to hand.  Access to a defibrillator can make the difference between life and death while waiting for the emergency services to arrive.

Westmuir Defibrillator Group are fortunate that Community Heartbeat Trust (CHT), a registered charity staffed by volunteers, had already adopted our Westmuir telephone kiosk from BT last year. This has allowed our defibrillator group to commit to working in partnership with CHT to deliver the initial project while also safeguarding the future management of the venture.

How much we need to raise.  We require a total of £2,500 to ensure we have sufficient funds in place to purchase, install and connect the defibrillator and cabinet. We also require to have adequate funding available to cover other expenses such as annual support charges and replacement parts.

Our crowdfunding target is £600, which we aim to use to cover the cost of the cabinet.  Our existing funds have been raised through fundraising, a donation, and most appreciatively, from a bequest made by a local resident who specified that the legacy should go towards a defibrillator to ensure the Westmuir community would benefit from the donation. Any funds raised over our target will be put towards ongoing maintenance costs and replacement equipment.

Your help, in the form of a donation, would be greatly appreciated, as our Angus Council Community Grant Scheme Application for matched funding can be awarded as soon as donations have reached £300.

Thank you for supporting our defibrillator project.
