10k a day to raise £10k
We did it
On 10th August 2020 we successfully raised £5,090 with 117 supporters in 34 days

Wigan Athletic football club has had funding withdrawn by the new owners and needs cash to survive until a new owner is found.

Wigan Athletic Football Club is my football club. It's a club I've supported for 25 years of my life. It recently changed hands into new ownership and not only was the promised funds withheld on the day the new owners took control of the club, those same new owners put the club into administration. It's a solvent business with hardly any debt and no big list of creditors, so administration wasn't necessary and has meant hard-working staff have not been paid.

This has sent shockwaves through the club, the town and football as a whole. It should not and cannot be allowed to happen. However, the here and now is that the club has a shortfall of cash to get to the end of the season and until a new owner comes in.

Wigan Athletic Supporters Club has created a crowdfunding page which has already raised over £100k in 24 hours. The fight goes on to get more cash into the club to pay the loyal, hard-working staff which make our community club what it is.

So I've decided to down my own crowdfunding off the Supporters Club's funding page, which goes into the main pot and, ultimately, in the club to keep things going.

I'll be running 10k every single day, mainly until I reach my £10k funding target. However, I won't stop there. I'll run 10k a day until such time that the club has new owners and cash is no longer needed from crowdfunding sources such as this.

Please support me in my efforts to help the football club which is such a huge part of my life and that I love so dearly. Your support could make all the difference.

Thank you

Stu
