Last year I began a project #letsmakesalisburygreatagain following the unfortunate attack. I brought an entertainment bar named @home to the city with events for the community on a daily basis, a mental health movement and a Salisbury Pride to remember. This has been well celebrated by the Salisbury community and now I'd like to bring more.
During Christmas Salisbury BID set up a pop up rink in the city centre and it was fully booked the entire time! I recently conducted a survey of what Salisbury locals want to see from Salisbury in the coming year, it was shared on all community groups on facebook and has had an astounding response. The clear winner was an ice rink.
There is very little to do in Salisbury currently and almost nothing for teenagers and so our crime rates are going up. With more and more developments happening and very little coming to life in the city its time to make the change we wish to see in the city. Salisbury and Wiltshire council have budgets to spend but like many others I have found it hard to access them and have applied for @home with no avail and so had to take action myself. This is another case of that and so its time to see how passionate we are as a community for bringing new concepts in for families and alike to enjoy and to foster a new culture. @theicerink will be a place to hone new skills, figure skating and ice hockey along with being a great place to be socially.
From a business perspective and a note to potential investors we have a financial plan in place and this can be sent via email, just send us a message! We intend to make the money back and be in full profit in 4 years with this project.
Looking ahead we would like to build a rock climbing centre next to or near to the ice rink, we will have food and drinks vendors on the site and we as always are an equal opportunities employer and expect to provide entry level jobs, apprenticeships and skilled jobs to the community with the building of this site.
