You Kissed Me is a surreal and poetic performance of sound and vision, an unsettling experience in a small terraced home in Toxteth in Liverpool, where a strange and unusual woman will tell you her story...
A journey through memory and fear, inspired by the photographs of Diane Arbus and Francesca Woodman, this is a unique, experimental, multi-sensory project which explores the complex identity of the home and the tenant, distorting perceptions and blurring the lines between live music and theatre. Utilising sound, song, visual art and movement.
I am aiming to raise £1000 through Crowdfunder to go some way towards the costs of this project. What if 250 people were to give £5 each? Your £5 will help pay the costs of creating, performing and touring this work.
A bit more about me....
I'm an award-winning singer, musician and physical performer. Since 2002, I've worked all over the UK and internationally in music, theatre, site-specific theatre and dance, puppetry and radio projects as a freelance performer and in collaborations with Oceanallover, Walk the Plank, Dead Belgian, Fuel, Everyman Theatre, Liverpool Lantern Company and BBC Radio Drama, among many others. I have trained extensively in physical theatre and in 2013, I was awarded a place on Embodied Theatre in Glasgow, where I studied visual theatre, movement, devising and performance under the direction of Al Seed, Alex Rigg and Ewan Downie. While I was there, I began to focus on experimentation with my original compositions, singing and movement. I'm exploring ways of making my voice and music physical and visual, and using movement to inspire sounds and songs.
The initial site-responsive presentations of this work will take place at 41 Ritson Street, Liverpool as part of Physical Fest, 20th to 28th May 2016 and are free of charge. Tickets available here - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/you-kissed-me-tickets-22408390098. A unique live music tour, incorporating the sound and visuals and a live vocal performance, will begin in June 2016. You Kissed Me will then be available for a tour of site-responsive re-adaptations in 2017.
