On Saturday 19th November 2016 CAMEO a Leeds based Voluntary Community Group, is planning an Evening of Celebration and Appreciation for our local Olympian and successful Team Jamaica Springboard Diver, Yona Knight-Wisdom. The event is due to be held at the Leeds West Indian Centre, Laycock Place, Leeds, LS7 3JA.

You will no doubt be aware that Yona is from Leeds and has parents from both Jamaica and Barbados. Whilst studying at Leeds University, Yona continued to train tirelessly showing extreme commitment and dedication to his diving. He wisely chose and succeeded in representing Jamaica at the recent Rio 2016 Olympics as our first ever Olympic Diver. As a semi finalist he competed strenuously with stiff opponents and achieved 14th place out of 29.

With such talent, dedication, show of commitment and, discipline in and out of the pool you will agree that he is a true inspiration and a role model to our youths not just within our community but nationally.

His Olympic success and truly remarkable achievement should not go unrecognised and, deserves community acknowledgement and our continued support. This will serve to motivate other young people from the community to also pursue their dreams

We are also seeking a financial contribution to enable us to host the Evening of Celebration and Appreciation in his honour. Your contribution no matter how large or small will be gratefully received and appreciated.  Please Give Generously, we need your support
