Ye Olde Salutation Inn was built around 1240 AD however the cave system it sits on top of dates back to around 800 AD but could be as early as 400 AD. The pub was used during the English Civil War by both sides and was reputedly visited by both King Charles and Cromwell. The building is grade 2 listed and is an important part of the nottingham pub scene. The downstairs bar and 2 snugs is frequented by a wonderful mix of people from all backgrounds and the upstairs venue bar is a home to live music.
As you can imagine with a pub this size it takes a lot of maintainance and over the last few years it has started to look its age. The team at the salutation is looking to turn time back on this amazing venue and with a lot of effort we intend to reinstate the kitchens so that once again people will be able to enjoy wonderful food in one of the most historic pubs in Nottingham. We also intend to sort out the air-conditioning in the upstairs venue and thats just for starters. We will be renovating the toilets and making the pub more disabled and family friendly. Lighting and seating will be improved all to ensure that everyone who visits has a wonderful experience. To do this we are offering some amazing offers to customers which will show how much we at the salutation appreciate your continued support. We can make the salutation once more an amazing place to be. This is an amazing venue with a wealth of history dating back to saxon times, she needs a little love and attention to ensure she is still here to be enjoyed for future generations.
