WSSGC began at the end of last year. Inspired by the Mini-Holland scheme introduced in Waltham Forest to reduce traffic in our residential streets, we asked the LBWF to put flower beds in to the filter at the top of Barrett Road E17. These we filled with good soil and planted. It is now a fabulous communal area and gives so much joy to all the residents in the surrounding streets. We are continuing our efforts by building tree pits around all the trees in these streets and filling them with wonderful plants, so far an amazing array of herbs and complimentary flowers which are admired and used by so many on a daily basis. On the 25th June we are having our next big gardening day event and want to build and plant another 15 beds in Barrett Road and the remaing 6 in Brookfield Avenue. To this end we need to raise £750 (or more to do more!) to cover our costs. Please donate and/or do come along and give a hand and enjoy the day...there will be tea and cake!
