"The poet comes to the people; a gathering of writers, speakers and performers who meet to share poetry, prose and language."
This exciting proposal builds upon Plymouth’s burgeoning literary scene, as exemplified by The Word, BlackBooks, CrossCountry Writers, Plymouth Athenaeum Writers' Group and Plymouth Language Club.
The Programme will include:
A free performance showcasing award winning writers and musicians from both Plymouth and Brest, such as author Tom Vowler and music by Capri-Batteri, led by the celebrated trumpet player, Tim Sayer; all taking place within a lively and congenial atmosphere.
Book signings and selected readings by their authors at Waterstones book shop, followed by an acoustic set from renowned Breton folk band, BEP SORT.
Brest and Plymouth writers’ workshop: a free event led by published authors from France and England.
The project was initiated both to encourage cultural exchange between Plymouth, England, and Brest, France and to develop talent through complementary spoken word, arts and music events between the two cities.
The events will take place in various locations around Plymouth, as part of PlymLit16 Festival, which runs from 22nd October to 2nd November 2016.
