New stretch target
We will use this extra money to help cover the travel expenses of our visiting artists, who will be joining us from all over the UK. We will be able to buy a wider variety of arts materials for participants to use in our free workshops, and will go towards covering our travel expenses when installing and taking down our exhibition in venues all over Cornwall.
An inspirational arts project engaging with communities and landscape through performance, participatory events, workshops and exhibitions.
About the project
This summer dance artists Becki and Emma will be walking the entire Coastal path of Cornwall, a journey of 296 miles. Along the way we will be engaging with communities and landscapes through performance, participatory events, workshops and a physical body of artefacts generated over the duration of the project, which will be exhibited at galleries, festivals, libraries and other community spaces throughout Cornwall. We will be joined along the route by talented visiting artists from a range of backgrounds.
We want to celebrate the unique geographical landscape of Cornwall, and its rich cultural heritage and the many legacies established by other creative individuals and communities, whilst at the same time creating our own.
Through this project we hope to foster new ways of being and seeing in the world, and to open up dialogue between inner and outer landscapes; facilitating deeply satisfying ways in which individuals can engage with place, self, other and whole. We are keen to offer the gift of a focussed attention to the moment, allowing people to experience being in 'the moment', and observe the fact that they are in the moment; something which can be quite rare to find in our modern day lives. We want to offer individuals and communities an opportunity to enjoy and celebrate the environment they live in.
'This is a complex and extraordinary challenge. Wonderlust is a brave and inspirational piece of work that offers a unique experience for those participants and audiences who can join the performers along their journey.'
Antony Waller, Dance Republic 2
We are eager to share experiences and to weave our own work into the rich tapestry of arts, culture and heritage unique to Cornwall.
The project will take place from the 1st of June unitl the 5th of July. Every aspect of Wonderlust is free to take part in; we do not charge for performances, workshops, or exhibition entry. Wonderlust will reach a wide range of people, offering a sense of connection to the environment, a great foundation for well-being, and a chance for people to share their own work and experiences through our on-line gallery. You do not have to live in Cornwall to benefit from Wonderlust, our website includes both a blog and a more detailed diary, both to be updated daily along the route, allowing people from all over the world to share in the Wonderlust experience.
We will be staying with hosts along the route, who will offer us accomodation for the night in return for a delicious meal cooked by us.
We need your help to make Wonderlust happen, and are asking for money to buy essential equipment, materials and food to be shared across the duration of the project. Your donation will allow us to purchase art materials to be used by workshop participants, and raw materials from which we will build our exhibition. The money we recieve through our Crowdfunding campaign will also be used to purchase food that we can turn into a delicious meal to thank our generous hosts for welcoming us into their homes and providing us with a safe and comfortable place to sleep for the night.
Wonderlust is an exciting and inspiring arts project open to all, offering unique experiences and facilitating a sense of wonder and well-being in the world. We need your help to make it happen, and by donating to Wonderlust you can be part of something extraordinary!
