As the winter weather sets-in with freezing temperatures across Europe, thousands of fatigued, impoverished but dignified refugees and migrants looking for better futures, many with children, will be facing the cold out in the open, in make-shift camps.
WLIC has launched a special appeal to raise funds and deliver them to established aid agencies who will supply winter relief packages. In late December, essential items such as sleeping bags, thermal blankets, raincoats, clothes, ration packs and family tents will be distributed to the most vulnerable, in key areas such as Calais, Macedonia and Greece.
We have all seen pictures of the European refugee crisis, caused largely by the displacement of people from war-torn countries such as Syria, Afghanistan and Africa. Let us not forget them and extend the hand of warmth and comfort to our brothers and sisters in humanity.
