Raise the Roof

Raise the Roof

Help us to achieve our dream of being one of the best rugby club in the North West, starting by developing and rejuvenating our Clubhouse.

Unfortunately, this project was not successful

Why support Wirral Rugby Club?

Wirral Rugby Club is a truly grassroots, ameteur rugby club playing in the fifth highest levels of English Rugby (National League 3 North). Having been in exsitance since 1937, the Club this year celebrates two milestones - the first 80 years since its creation and the second 50 years since we located to our current location, Memorial Ground. Wirral would not survive without the generosity and dedication of its volunteers, players and members, however we would like your help to achieve our dream of creating a sustainable Club for future generations.

Currently Wirral Rugby Club hosts a number of sides ranging from our Under-7s right through to the 1st XV. Our Mini & Junior section has teams in every age grade from Under-7s through to Under-17s, with our Senior Section holding 4 XV sidea, and Under-18s team and a newly estalished Veterans side. Over the past two years, we have also seen the development, growth and inclusion a growing female section - with over 50 women on the roster and an additional 10 girls.

In a year filled with milestones, we hope to upgrade our current facilities and transform our clubhouse into a high-quality sporting facility for all of the local community. We want to build upon our inclusive, family-orientated values and beliefs to ensure that we leave a lasting legacy for the future and secure Wirral's existance for generations of rugby players to come.

Our hope is that by achieving our goal, we are able to grow our club, encouraging more young people to participate in rugby, as well as diversify the disciplines of rugby and other sports offered. Also by allowing us to become more finacially-viable, we will be able to invest more back into the local community and grassroots sports.

Where is the money going?

Your money will help us to fund the first stages of our extensive redevelopment project, which will see a rejuvination of our changing room facilities, to improve disabled access and the additon of female changing rooms and a physiotherapy room. On top of this we will also be expanding into our roof space to create a first floor, with addtional function room space and a viewing terrace across our 1st XV pitch. As well as this we want to build an outdoor soft children's play area, to offer a safe space for toddlers and children to play whilst at Wirral.

In order to achieve our dream clubhouse, Wirral needs to raise a substantial amount of money, and your help will allow us to take the first steps on this journey. The first major phase of our project is the redevelopment and extension to our changing facilities. This will allow us to better accomodate our growing rugby sections, including strong Mini and Junior teams, Ladies and Senior Mens teams including our newly started Vets Team. Any overfunding on this project will help us to make this dream a reality faster and provide more investment into our current facilities - our teams will be delighted!

We are a passionate bunch, particularly when it comes to improving our facilities and developing/securing Wirral as a Club. Over the years, we have raised money for different pieces of work to be completed to our grounds, making it one of the best in the county. However now is the time that serious improvements need to be made to our clubhouse facilities. Given our rural location, and being one of the highest playing amateur clubs in our area, we believe we need to offer the community something different if we are to continue to compete and survive. Our appeal will be state-of-the-art facilities both in our grounds and clubhouse.
