Wirral Green Party General Election Candidates

A Politics project Wirral, United Kingdom

Enabling Wirral Green Party to stand General Election Candidates

New stretch target

If we exceed our initial target of £1000 we shall aim to raise a further £500 to stand in Wirral South. Any extra raised over £1500 would go to fund our campaigns to win seats on Wirral Council and beyond that, future camapigns in local, European and General Elections.

Project aim

Enabling Wirral Green Party to stand General Election Candidates

About the project     First Ever Green Party General Election Candidates in Wirral

Wirral Green Party is pleased to announce that we will be standing candidates in the General Election of 2015 in Birkenhead, Wallasey and if possible, Wirral South. Kenny Peers is our prospective parliamentary candidate for Birkenhead, John Howe is the Green Party prospective parliamentary candidate for Wallasey and our Wirral South PPC will be announced very shortly.

We need to raise £1000 to pay the deposits in Birkenhead and Wallasey. If we reach our stretch target of £1500 we will be able to pay the deposit for our candidate in Wirral South also.

We want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to vote Green in the General Election in May, to show that they want a new way of governing our country. It is a chance to vote for social justice, sensible economics and a sustainable environment, and for a political party that is the fastest growing in the country.

If we win more than 5% of the votes cast in each case, the deposits are returned. In that case the money raised will be used in future local, European and General Election campaigns.

We have two excellent local candidates in Kenny Peers who works for an environmental charity and John Howe who is a retired senior social work practitioner. Our third candidate will also have excellent credentials; the name will be made public as soon as the selection process is complete.

Please ensure you are on the electoral register- this is a requirement of donating to a political party. You also need to be on it to vote, of course. Register here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote if you are not.

If you pledge £500 or over, you must be willing to provide your contact details and address.

Kenny Peers says: I am Green Party candidate for Birkenhead where I have lived most of my life. I work for an environmental education charity where we support new allotment developments and organic food production as well as work in schools on what it means to live sustainably. The Green Party is the only one offering alternative solutions to the failed economic experiment of austerity and it is vital that these ideas are given a voice in the forthcoming election. We can only do this with your financial support so please help us to give people a real democratic choice.

John Howe is a retired Senior Social Work Practitioner who says,"I am standing against austerity. We have an out-of-control capitalist system that sees human kind as simply "another commodity". We have mass unemployment, benefit sanctions, the spiteful bedroom tax, zero hour contracts, poverty pay, local urban areas left to go to rack and ruin, massive student debt, the sick and disabled being punished, massive reductions in public services and the disempowering of local government...the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting the blame and taking the punishment.

The Green Party is a party of social and environmental justice, which supports a radical transformation of society for the benefit of all, and for the planet as a whole."
