Liverpool Green Co-operative, a small workers' co-operative trading as Windmill Wholefoods, was set up in 1991 to provide the community with a vegetarian wholefood retail business, selling products that have a strong focus on ethical and green issues.
Fast forward 25 years, and we've noticed that a wider range of people are becoming aware of the benefits that a diet based on organic food can bring. Many more wish to support small, local businesses, or simply to buy products that aren't reliant on the exploitation of people, animals and the environment. We would like to build on this and improve the service we offer.
With the right amount of help and investment Windmill Wholefoods could flourish. We would like to move forward and start transforming the business so it can become a shining example of ethical retailing for the city and local community.
A vital aspect of this concerns the visual appearance and general ambience of the shop. Windmill must look the part, drawing customers in and providing them with an attractive and comfortable atmosphere in which to browse and shop. This will involve raising as much as we can to replace noisy and dilapidated fridges, and fit the shop with new flooring and signage.
We would also like to expand our product range but require that initial boost so that any income generated can keep the momentum going and we can replenish stock levels reliably.
All donations, great and small, will be much appreciated!
Many thanks from all at Liverpool Green Co-operative.
