The Wild Guide to Portugal is a new compendium of wild adventures ideas and the best hidden places in Portugal. Featuring secret beaches, deserted river swims, wild hilltop castles, ancient forests and walking routes and places to spot wildlife or stargaze. It will include slow food restaurants and regional cuisine and even wilder places to spend the night. It will be published by Wild Things Publishing in March 2017.
Having travelled half of Portugal in 2015, the book is 50% complete and I need to ask help with the petrol, accommodation and travel costs to make the next half of the book.

So far, I have discovered many beautiful wild places and met people working to protect these places, whether through farming, age-old rural ways of working in harmony with the land, or more recent associations formed to develop greener, wilder ways of living.
This book will encourage low-impact tourism to flourish in Portugal, offering an alternative to the consumerist focused holidays. It will forge connections between wild swimmers and nature lovers in the UK and those developing green projects in Portugal and so, help to protect and celebrate Portugal's wildest spots.
