Your Adventure! Your Journey!
Recent government cuts to youth services have created a gap in provision of outdoor education for young people with additional needs, or those who are financially challenged.
Using the money raised Wild Cymru aims to provide the necessary equipment and professional coaching, to enable participation in outdoor activities such as kayaking.
The money would be used to purchase a vehicle to transport clients, a trailor to transport the equipment and 8xkayaks, helmets, bouyance aids, paddles and dry suits.
Using kayaking as an activity, Wild Cymru would take the young people out of their comfort zone to build confidence, self esteem and inderpendence.
Young people would also have a social outlet where they could make new friends and share new experiences. Wild Cymru will be run by a youth worker and outdoor educator with over fifteen years experience of working with young people.
Wild Cymru will create a productive and safe environment for young people to explore and discover new activities that improve health, fitness and social well being. The programme will also build the capacity of communities by developing leaders to act as project ambassadors. The money would be used to purchase the necessary equipment to enable young people to participate.
Wild Cymru aims to diversify its activities into other outdoor activities such as climbing and walking in the future. Wild Cymru will also offer its services to other groups to subsidise it's sessions whilst maintaining its focus on disadvantage young people and creating opportunities.
Based in Bridgend, Wild Cymru will also contribute to Welsh tourism and the promotion of environmental preservation of the Welsh outdoors by enabling its clients to discover all that Wales has to offer.
