Healthy Affordable Soup Workshops in Cornwall using locally sourced produce

Whole Again Communities (WAC) is a community interest company. We bring people together to make soup. By creating their own soup, people can get new ideas on how to live more easily on ashoestring budget.

WAC encourages and supports people to learn to cook quality, affordable soup so that they can embrace healthy eating at home. We also help people to create their own recipes.

To help us sustain our initiatives, we also sell soup direct on stalls and at events.

WAC is currently focusing on delivery and using community venues in the West Cornwall.

History of WAC

My name is Liz. My inspiration for WAC comes from years of depending on delicious homemade soups, especially at times when I was living on a very low income. This allowed me to indulge in my passion for healthy food and a positive approach to life.

I am a trained chef and have run healthy food workshops for young mums living at a refuge, people aged 50+ on health-related benefits, and men participating on drug/alcohol recovery programs. Being involved in these projects has helped me to deal with my own learning and confidence issues, and led to work in community learning and employment support. I am keen to combine my skills and experience to support others through WAC.

Myself and my friendly enthusiastic volunteers  run soup and chat weekly sessions at our local Community space in Penzance as well as across the locality.

We are supporting and encouraging each other to cook quality, affordable soups, so we can  enjoy healthy eating at home. We help people to create their own recipes to suit the dietary needs of their friends and family.

We recruit and work with volunteers who develop their skills and confidence and act as ambassadors for WAC providing a friendly ear and encouragement for others to cook and eat healthily and economically.

We have already inspired and supported enthusiastic residents to make great healthy food using local produce and, in doing so, build up their own confidence and resourcefulness. We are training people to take this idea out to encourage healthy eating in other communities.
