The World Alternative Games held the first Wheelchair Rugby 7's tournament last August where England, Wales, Scotland and The Barbarians competed for the first time together. England won the tournament with Wales a close second, but Scotland were very close too. Since this tournament we have been looking to promote the sport in Wales especially as at present Wales have to train in England. Wales are having a very successful run at the moment and we are looking to establish a training base in Builth Wells at the Royal Welsh Showground where the venue is excellant.
We are staging the next game between Wales and England on Saturday 5th August at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells, and are looking to raise funds towards the payment of the venue. Scotland may well be joining in on the day again too!
Please help us to promote this fantastic game and help put the game on the National and International map. United Kingdom Wheelchair 7's (UKW7) is the steering group and where further information can be sought. This game is played by both children and adults, both gender, fully inclusive to all with disabled and able bodied players. Wales are the new Tri Nations Champs - brilliant and well done to Wales.....but this game needs to be developed and recognised (especially in Wales) and by raising funds to promote it will be an essential part of this process. Please all help raise the profile of this magnificent sport.
