Grassroots Green Campaign for West Sussex

Turkeys voting for Christmas. Not just Labour. That’s us if we let the Tories hold onto power.

In Bognor Regis & Littlehampton we have the sitting Minister of State for Schools, Nick Gibb, who thinks West Sussex children are worth less than other children around the country and has presided over the underfunding and destruction of their education. No Mr Gibb MP, no more!

Southern Railway has held the south and south east to ransom. Privatisation has failed and the region’s MPs have utterly failed to act. People are losing their jobs. Families are suffering. No more!

We also have the absolutely farcical, undemocratic and, not to mention, waste of money A27 ‘consultation’. Every option given by this out of touch government only offers more pollution, more unsustainable development and more division of our communities by ever bigger and busier roads. And how are we treated when the people challenge this destruction? Like children. And we know what the government thinks of West Sussex children. Talk of a Tory landslide and the money is back on the table. Why should local people (people going to work, children going to school, people accessing essential healthcare needs) and the local environment (National Park for sale, anyone?) be held to ransom by a dictatorial government. No more.

Join us in the #BattleForWestSussex.

Safe seats should not be safe havens for the destroyers of our children’s futures, our careers, our businesses, our home lives and our environment.

There are solutions:

- a funded, community-based education system providing everyone with the knowledge and skills to participate fully in society. There can be no postcode lottery when it comes to children’s futures.

- taking rail franchises back into public ownership when they come up for renewal (the government itself has seen this work), and Southern’s franchise is up in this next Parliament. No other party supports public ownership.

- properly funded public transport research and solutions, and better and safer walking and cycling alternatives.

This election is the most important in a generation, and we are ready to stand up and do our bit. These ‘honourable gentlemen’ who are elected to represent us need to answer our challenges and then the people they have betrayed can decide at the ballot.

But the Chichester and Bognor Green Party is a small local party. We ploughed our limited resources into the local elections in a bid to stop Tory domination at every level of government. The Tories know this, and it’s just one more reason why they called this snap General Election when they did.

We need your help. And your money!

Please help us raise enough money for our Green Party candidates to stand in the upcoming General Election in the constituencies of Arundel & South Downs, Bognor Regis & Littlehampton, and Chichester. We need to show the Tories that they cannot have it all their own way and we will not just hand them power. We say ‘no’ to the Tories and their blank cheque Britain.

Just standing as an MP requires a deposit of £500 and then there is the investment needed to win. Leaflets, press adverts, broadcasts – all cost money, but each one will help us share our message of hope.

Every donation matters, and with your financial backing we can take on the Establishment (yes Labour, we’re talking to you too!) and bring us all closer to having a parliament and country fit for the 21st century.

We also need you to spread the word. We are small communities between blue Tory England and the deep blue sea. Send us a message. Give us a shout out. Let us know there are other people out there who believe in a better, fairer, more equal future.

Together, let’s turn West Sussex green! Let’s do this! #BattleForWestSussex
