My name is Louise Thomas, and I am a 19 year old musical theatre student studying presently at Bath Dance College for Performing Arts. www.bathdancecollege.com. It has been my lifelong dream to have a career in musical theatre. I have recently auditioned and secured a place on the three year musical theatre/dance course at Performers College London. www.performerscollege.com. Performers is one of the top musical theatre schools in the country and they only select high talent (over 1,000 young adults apply for 60 places by audition only).
So you may ask what makes me different. What you see on the outside is me, Lou. Underneath though is a different story, as I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 4 years old. I have never once let this condition put me off my aspiring dream. I cannot and will not allow my condition to stop my dream of performing at the West End.
Being type 1 diabetic is not easy when dancing & performing for 10 hours a day. To everybody, I'm Lou, and I want it that way, Diabetes doesn’t control me, I control it, people don't see the effort this requires every minute of the day. Everything I have achieved so far I have done with an Insulin Pump constantly connected to me and a bottle of lucozade to hand in case I go into hypo.
My reason, that I am appealing to you is that it is very costly to train at this exceptional college; student loans are not available as this is such a specialist field. The fees per term are £4,920.00, accommodation costs are £350 a month. Over 3 years as you can imagine this adds up to a considerable amount.
Please would you mind just sparing a few minutes to look at the Showreel I have created myself to support this crowd funder which shows my commitment to my intended profession. https://youtu.be/ImSJZsvKGyY
Any help would be immensely appreciated to help me achieve my potential. If for any reason I am unable to attend Performers any money you have kindly donated I will either promise to refund, or if you are happy donate to Diabetes UK.
