Trawler needs you!
Trawler is a twenty four page community-generated tabloid-sized paper. It's not a newspaper, it's not just for local people, it's full of stories to inspire. You won't find stories about big brands or corporations here, these are stories about independent spirit, passion projects, retail startups, these are previously untold stories about remarkable people.
It's produced by a collective of writers, designers, photographers, traders, thinkers and doers based in and around Leigh-on-Sea, England. In the trawler net for our debut issue is a mix of stories, essays and profiles designed to get our readers thinking and doing.
Trawler is a labour of love. Everyone who has contributed - from photographers to designers and writers - has done this for free alongside their day jobs. We just need £1,400 to launch with a print run of 3000 copies and everyone who supports this campaign will receive a copy in the post!
Our launch edition features...In our 24 page launch edition you'll read articles from entrepreneur Sam Brown about why he quit his job to open a wine shop, there’s a Q&A with productivity expert Laura Sly on how to balance your energies to get things done, a profile of Southend's record shop South, an essay from Ian Sanders on why he likes watching the container ships traveling up the Thames estuary and an article about a remarkable lady by Elisa Adams. There's also photographs by Dan Rubin and Si Brandon, and a cartoon by Dave Walker.
A publication for curious mindsAlthough ‘Trawler’ is anchored by the Thames Estuary in Leigh-on-Sea, this is a publication for curious people everyone and anywhere, telling stories of passion, hard work, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Trawler is not a digital publication; it's designed to be touched and shared - to be read in coffee shops, park benches and train carriages. We are independent-minded, we have an opinion, we like telling stories, we like getting stuff done.
Why we need your support
Let's be clear: we need your support to make this side project see the light of day. We've all put our time in for free - and lots of it - turning a random idea we had into reality. It's been quite a journey and now we need you to take it over the finish line.
Please help us reach our target by sharing our campaign! We'd love it if you could tell your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours about Trawler - #TrawlerPaper
A big thank you from the Trawler crew & to @SapnaSolanki12 for the video ;)
