Domestic Violence & its consequences

A woman is locked up in a jail cell for 24 hours as part of a sordid plan created by her former partner to kill their children. He hoodwinks everyone but can do so because she's never reported him for previous domestic abuse that lasted for many years before that happened... Twist and turns that a fictional plot wouldn't be able to conceive.
