What is our project?
Our project is to transform our club by replacing our trampoline bed and purchasing leotards for our team to compete in.
What is the need for this project?
As a team, we have been using equipment and leotards that have kept the team running for decades. It has served us well and has allowed us to build a strong network of keen students to keep active and compete against other universitities. However, we now need to update our equipment to allow us to continue the club for future students.
Our current leotards are noticeably discoloured, do not adequately represent our team's performance and we do not have enough to support all of our members. New leotards would allow us to send more members to competitions, keep the club going for at least another 10 years and allow us to reflect the success of the team.
We also need to replace our trampoline bed because it currently does not meet competition and safety standards. Without a replacement, we will not be able to compete or practise and will be losing a piece of key equipment for the team.
A bit about us....
The Stirling University Trampolining and Gymnastics club has been an active and welcoming club for many decades. We are a recreational and competitive club facilitating professional coaching to our 50 members and their wide range of abilities and levels.
We currently train five times per week, with ur competitive members attending four Scottish league competitions and one international competition. We also select a male and female team to represent the University at the British University and College Sport Championships (BUCS) each year. In the past year we have been very successful at all of these competitive events. Some of the highlights being:
- Scottish Student Sport Trampoline League: 10 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 10 bronze medals
- BUCS: Mens Level 2 Champion, Womens Level 2 Champion, Mens Level 5 3rd Place
- Irish Student Trampoline League: Team Gold
What difference will this project will make?
With new leotards we can support more of our budding athletes and members of all levels to reach their full potential by competing against other universities or simply training for fun. In order to compete, we have to have leotards of a certain standard in order to represent the university.
If we can replace our trampoline bed then we can continue the trampoline training for years to come as it will meet safety standards. This will mean that we can train our students to a higher performance level and support new members to try out this sport for the first ever time!
Your help will allow us to support our club for the next 10 years and also improve our training and performance at competitions.
