Tihama and Taiz - The Forgotten Famine of Yemen

Food4Humanity provides food in Tihama & Taiz to starving families, your generosity will help distribute urgent food, water, medicine and shelter to more and more people in desperate need in Yemen.

Save the life of a starving Family

For many years, parts of Yemen have been reliant on assistance from foreign and local charities to top up the livelihoods of people living in areas without industry, tourism nor agriculture. Since March 2015, nearly all international charities have abandoned Yemen because of a senseless war. Food and supplies have been blockaded by warring factions whilst they play out their war games at the expense of people too weak to speak. Some who have spoken out have said they'd "rather die from the bombs which rain down on their houses, schools and factories rather than the slow torture of starvation."

The situation for Yemen's poor is devastating yet governments are doing nothing about it. Tens of thousands of people have died already from the war and starvation and if we leave them at the mercy of merciless governments, this figure will rise catastrophically.

As most international agencies are unwilling to enter Yemen, much of the relief work is being done right now by Yemeni charities and initiatives.  Food4Humanity is a Yemeni charity which is working on the ground in the areas most affected by the famine. It is funded entirely by private donations from ordinary people - like you and me - who want to help those less fortunate than themselves. Here are examples of some of the work they have been doing:

 Daily, they pay for the entire production output of a bakery in Taiz which provide 1300 pieces of bread for 130 families

weekly food rations and supplies for displaced families;

 consistent provision of vegetables, fruits, chickens and and meat distributed in food rations to over 200 families on a weekly basis;

for children, school enrolment, clothes and books for deprived children and orphans, which includes school uniforms and provisions ;

Support for widows and elderly with no family nor providers 

Support for building water tanks to supply local internally displaced people seeking refuge from the war.

Your generosity will help us to meet the demands of increasing numbers of people needing urgent food, water, medicines and shelter. Without your help millions are likely to die; Yemen cannot wait any longer for unfulfilled promises of humanitarian assistance by the "international community" - it's ordinary people like you and me who can make a difference.
