In the UK when we choose to have a baby we know we are in safe hands of the NHS, we know that thoughout pregnancy we have plans set in place by the government to support and care for us in all trimesters right through to our birth. Unfortunately this isn't a luxury women have in third world countries and although it has become the norm, its still scary and stressful.
While on my travels in Indonesia I have made close friends with a lovely young lady called Annie who is expecting her third child. After long conversations she admitted her worries about being pregnant again and explained that though both her and her husband work fulltime, it will cost them over 6 weeks wage to afford the trip to hospital to give birth to their baby. A high wage in Tulamben is about £2 a day, so you can imagine how difficult it is on a low wage to factor in £150 for a round trip to hospital.
She is an honest, kind-hearted, and humble lady full of love. She has totally touched my heart and I thought if I could do anything worth while on my travels it would be to collect and provide her with the money she needs to be worry free. I believe every woman should have the right to feel completely at ease at such a vunerable time.
You won't have the pleasure of meeting this wonderful woman but you have the oppotunity to be involved in something great for somebody who needs it!
Please feel free to donate however much you can afford, every penny will make all the difference!
Thankyou so much in advance for your efforts!!
***** UPDATE *****
Within 10 minutes of posting my project I raised over the target needed for Annie's hospital trip. I am overwhelmed, thankyou to each and every one of you for your kindness. I have never felt so fuzzy inside! If you still want to do your bit then please feel free to donate, she is a family of four and soon to be 5 so I'm sure the extra mile you go to will greatly effect her family! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!!
