Be a part of something new and exciting. Opera is an extraordinary art form frequently paraded as a cheap circus act on television or untouchable in the grand opera houses of Europe. Become a real part of this art form, learn about it and grow with the Opera Ensemble to discover new works and a new way of working.
We need to fund the pilot show for a brand new Opera company. Our first show is at the Arcola Theatre on 21st August 2011. We need £5000 to produce the show. The Opera Ensemble will be a new modern professional theatre company producing work of the highest intensity and beauty in intimate settings with the best professionals we can gather. We hope to use all our experience in Opera And Theatre to combine to produce minimal, arrestingly vivid and emotional shows.
We eventually intend to develop a template and uniform for an ensemble that represents a modern professionalism but total commitment and sensitivity to music, words and the theatre. We already have a fantastic team for the first project with a director with vast experience of the theatre and film and singers and pianists who have worked regularly as principal soloists and as conductor at The Royal Opera, Covent Garden and English National Opera.
We intend to develop our relationship with our audience and sponsors so you are always armed with some knowledge before you attend a live performance. We want to develop easily palatable research around the works which we hope to share with you, should you wish, before the shows.
We need this £5000 to produce our first show.
We will professionally sound and video record this to send to promoters and potential sponsors to aid the launch of the larger company next year. We will also be able to send this to you, our sponsors, if you so wish or if you are unable to attend the show live.
On this occasion, we are performing in English one of the greatest challenges and works for the Tenor voice. It is called "The Diary of One who Disappeared" by Leos Janacek. It is a haunting dramatic work submerged in the simplicity of Moravian folk Music depicting a loss of innocence of a young farmer who falls in love with a gypsy. It is full of jarringly exciting rhythmic music and sensual dark melodies. It involves five singers and a pianist, and a team of people to put it all together.
This company intends to compete in the professional market and without your help we will find it tricky to get our foot in the door. Please consider making a donation and thanks for reading, if you got this far. If you can& 39;t sponsor us, please consider supporting us by coming to the show.
