The Funeral for Lost Species
We did it
On 30th June 2011 we successfully raised £2,503 with 29 supporters in 45 days

The Funeral for Lost Species is an immersive theatrical experience, combining visual art and devised performance to explore the loss of species and cultures throughout human history. In a timeless graveyard, participants will delve into historical, current and future human-caused extinctions. Each of the tombs will belong to the last individual of a species, and taking place in the graveyard will be one such Endling's funeral. (Or more! - This is a mass extinction after all.) The project will have a strongly participatory, interdisciplinary focus on learning through workshops to create a powerful theatre piece and installation. It will also explore the science of climate change-related extinctions, and the potential for constructive responses to this. We will work collaboratively with scientists to make sure we tell accurate stories and to generate as wide a range of creative contributions as possible. The Funeral for Lost Species will be devised this spring, and performed at the Brighton Fringe Festival in May 2011. We have received funding from the TippingPoint commission which promotes new theatre exploring climate change, and we need to raise match funding. Feral Theatre can offer various rewards to project benefactors, including: Free admission to Feral Theatre shows Opportunities to contribute to the show Involvement and participation in Feral Theatre workshops Original Feral artwork & photographs for major donors of £500+ Our abiding gratitude. www.feraltheatre.co.uk [email protected]
