OUR AIM:My sister and I aim to raise £1400 for the Cube cinema in Bristol, helping them to buy the building they currently rent. On Decmber 1st we will be exhibiting our first ever film together in celebration of The Cube's blue screening nights, which allow independent film makers to show their work.
THE CUBE:They are a volunteer run, non-profit cinema, registered charity and a creative hub for film, music, art and socializing. The Cube is an integral part of Bristol's culture and creativity.
Currently they pay the rent for the building by selling organic cider and fair trade coffee (which they get straight from their supplier in Mexico). But before their 15 year lease is up in December 2013 they aim to buy the building; and to do so they need to raise £185,000.This is what they have raised so far.
With ownership, the sum of the hard work carried out by volunteers will be directly invested in the building, equipment, programming, creative projects and education for the staff. It will enrich the experience of everyone who passes through the doors.
ABOUT US:My sister Alice and I have just returned from a two month trip in Central and South America. Throughout our travels we documented the places and people that made such great impressions on us and shaped who we are and how we travelled.
Our film is a dream-like documentation of our experience together. Both of us editing a montage of her footage and mine gives a unique insight into our travels and our relationship as sisters.
The band Jewellers have kindly given us the rights to use their music as the sound track to our film. This has been a huge step and we cannot thank them enough.
My sister has just started a film course at Westminster University this year and I am a sound / installation artist having graduated from a Fine Art Degree in Plymouth. We come from a creative family of film and photography and have always wanted to collaborate on a project like this. Not only would this be a fantastic way to support an organisation that need all the help they can get to keep running but it would also launch us into our future careers with a huge life experience behind us.
Remember, if we don't make the £1400 target I won't get any of the pledges at all. But there's nothing stopping the campaign raising more than £1400. All support is greatly appreciated, even if you cant help with money, please show this your friends and family and anyone you think may find this interesting. We thank you in advance for your support.
