We desperately need a proper coffee machine so that we can offer a wider range of drinks, and the students can learn more complex skills that will be useful for them in the future. We offer low prices for the local community and we want to keep it this way!
Great Oaks School is a secondary school and sixth form for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties including autism and speech and language difficulties. The students are doing brilliantly learning all of the elements of working in a cafe and have plenty of enthusiasm and a hardworking attitude.
Currently we can only provide filter coffees hand made in a cafetiere, this is sometimes difficult for the students when keeping up with multiple orders, and doesn't provide much choice for our customers!
Students from Great Oaks School (Post 16) work in the cafe between 10am and 2pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They are showing off the skills they have learned over previous months and helping make the cafe a great success. They would all greatly benefit from having a proffessional coffee machine and we would love nothing more than to be able to provide this.
We are run by the charity Groundwork South, and all profits made by the cafe are invested back into the community. We run events and sessions aimed at people of all ages and abilities for arts and crafts sessions, coffee mornings, games and quizzes.
Thankyou so much for supporting us!
