We're raising funds towards the technical development of The Vanishing Library, a brand new app for families.

The app will be an immersive Wild Rumpus world populated by some of the marvellous characters from our live events including the award-winning Just So Festival family arts festival and The Lost Carnival theatrical adventure.

Our aim is to immerse families in incredible stories. We produce extraordinary worlds which take families on a journey of the imagination.

The Vanishing Library will expand on this, enabling families to play, engage and co-create these stories and experiences in a different medium. It will inspire, create moments of magic and wonder which families will want to talk about and share.

The Vanishing Library will enhance and extend the live experience of our creative adventures for families. It will offer different levels of participation, depth of experience and engagement. Importantly, it will also improve access to deaf and disabled audiences.

The Vanishing Library will be a platform to integrate existing performances and artists' work as well as creating new work. For example, the app will launch with experiences linked to new work by performance artist and choreographer Caroline Bowditch and visual and physical theatre company Pif-Paf.

The app will showcase and build familiarity with families as they navigate their way through this virtual world, exploring the work, game playing, watching video content and solving challenges. There will be experiences within the app which unlock and allow access to experiences at our live events and opportunities at events to find clues and passwords which unlock new content within the app.

Wild Rumpus is a not-for-profit community interest company based in Cheshire. We work with performers, producers and programmers to shape a cultural environment where excellent work for families thrives. We believe when families engage together in the highest quality arts, something quite amazing can happen - and this applies to real and virtual worlds.
