WHAT IS THE AIM
To raise funds to support the family of Dale Armstrong [brother of Light Dragoon Wo2 Armstrong] who was diagnosed with the same terminal cancer that ravaged his brother and mum, sadly Dale lost his life to the disease on 21st April 2017, Rest In Peace.
HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF
6 years ago THE ARMSTRONG family were rocked by the terrible news that Grant [pictured right] was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of cancer which unfortunately was so aggressive that it would eventually take his life.
Grant joined the British army after leaving school and dedicated all of his adult life to his career. He served his country well and was awarded medals for operational tours of Bosnia, and Iraq. Grant also was very lucky to survive a tour in Afghanistan where he came under effective enemy fire and was narrowly missed by incoming enemy fire. After landing his dream job as a Wo2 he was sadly diagnosed with an extremely aggressive and rare type of cancer. WIthin 12 months Wo2 Grant Armstrong was being laid to rest leaving his wife Donna and daughter Jessica [aged 2] behind.
Pat and Jack [Grants parents] had to endure one of the most heartbreaking experiences of their lives in burying their youngest son with full military honours. Sadly Pat was also diagnosed three years later with the same rare aggressive cancer and Jack had to say goodbye to the love of his life who's ashes lay metres from their son's memorial bench. Patricia left behind her husband Jack, oldest son Dale, and Daughter Lesley.
In November 2016 just 6 years after the first tragedy of losing his baby brother Grant, and 3 years after losing his beautiful mother Pat, Dale [pictured left] has now also been diagnosed with the same terrible rare cancer. It is now March 2017 and the harsh reality behind this story is that Dale, his wife Tracy, and daughter Sharna knew it was a terminal illness, yet nobody expected it to take him so soon.[REST IN PEACE]
DEALING WITH GRIEF
Losing his little brother hit Dale very hard, but he kept going, and he kept working to provide for his family, he was heartbroken. Then after the loss of his mother which rocked the whole family Dale picked himself up, and again carried on working to provide. Dale had to stop working as his health quickly deteriorated, he was however strong to the end and did his best.
WORKING CLASS FAMILY
Dale was from a working class family, they met each day as it came and were a very happy family but never had the extra funds to cover luxuries like: life insurance, critical illness cover, or funeral plans. The harsh reality is that they are not only dealing with grief but feeling the loss of Dale's income and Tracy's income is also down as she was understandably caring for her husband until Friday 21st April, and is now preparing for Dale's Funeral which is to take place at Woodhorn Cemetery, Newbiggin By The Sea, on 2nd May 2017.
They are not only grieving, they are going through such a terrible time and the reality is that Dale's widow Tracy now has financial worries regarding how she will manage alone now that Dale has passed.
SILENT WORRIES OF A PROUD MIND
The bare truth here is that Dale dI'd not know what his family were going to do without his hard earned financial input, this would weigh heavily on any man's heart - all we are trying to do here is raise money to hEMP the family and leave a bit left over to pay basic essential bills like gas, electricity, council tax and rent for a few months until Tracy can return to work.
HELP THEM KEEP THEIR FAMILY HOME
This family have gone through more than enough, so I am trying to ask the crowd, can we help them? can we give them the confidence that they will at least still be able to keep their rented family home.
