Hopefully some of you may have heard about our plans for The Silly Country – Droylsden’s first specialist beer bar.
The Silly Country
We’re really excited about creating a friendly and welcoming environment where our fellow Droylsdonians can relax and unwind over a drink. Young, old, human or canine – you’re all welcome!
There won’t be any tellies, loud music or gambling machines but there will be plenty of good beer. We plan to specialise in beer from Mancunian brewers and to also have a wide choice of bottles from elsewhere in the UK and from other great brewing countries such as Belgium, Germany and America.
Don’t worry if beer isn’t your thing though - we’ll also have plenty of other drinks to choose from, including a good selection of wines, Prosecco and gin.
We need your help!
Our plans snowballed a bit. We originally just wanted to take on the corner unit (which used to be Swinton Insurance) below the concord suite, but we had so much support and interest that we also decided to lease the premises next door and knock through to create a larger space.
Paying for all the extra work is going to be ‘interesting’. . . We’ve got a loan and all our savings are going into the project but we think we might still come up a bit short.
It’s because of this that we’re asking for people to help with some additional funding. We’ll be really grateful for any support and we’ve got plenty of special rewards to show our appreciation.

We'd like to make the most of your contribution, so rather than posting the gifts we ask you to collect them from the bar once we're open.
£100 Reward - Anyone kind enough to pledge £100 will receive a booklet containing 52 vouchers. Each voucher is worth one pint of draught beer (Keg or Cask) and they can be used at anytime.
£50 Reward - Anyone pledging £50 for the Gin and Prosecco reward will receive a booklet of 10 vouchers which can be used for 5 bottles of Prosecco or 10 Gin and Tonics, or a combination of both.

To all the brewers out there, our theme is local and independent. We love all beer but are trying to give the little guys a chance to promote their name. We want to offer something that's not already available in the area. Please contact us if you have any questions.
