We are looking to raise funds to help towards the build of a specially designed 'Hop house' to enable us to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome unwanted, stray, abandoned and neglected rabbits, Guinea pigs and other small furries. The building will provide comfort and safety for up to 24 rabbits/Guinea pigs until they find their forever home.

They did it!

 THE ANIMAL CENTRE

The RSPCA Canterbury and District Branch was established in October 1962 and merged with RSPCA Dover and District to form one single  Branch in June 2012. One of 166 independent local RSPCA Branches, licensed by the national RSPCA and subject to its strict Animal Welfare standards, we are a separately registered charity and fully responsible for raising our own funds.

For many years the Branch owned a property from where an RSPCA charity shop operated. These premises were sold in 2006 to provide the core funding for the purchase of land and the development of an Animal rehoming Centre just outside Canterbury in Westbere.

With Canterbury at it's Centre, the Branch serves a large part of Kent from East of Sittingbourne to Dover, which includes other towns and villages within this area.

Our work is made possible through donations and the sale of goods in our 10 charity shops located in Canterbury, Deal, Dover, Faversham, Herne Bay, Sittingbourne, Tankerton and Whitstable.

The Canterbury and Dover Animal Centre remains a work in progress at this time. With the main body of work now completed, the Centre already holds up to 80 cats in 40 specially designed units.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

The money that we are looking to raise is to go towards the start up build of of our aptly named 'Hop House'. Over the years there has been an increase in the amount of rabbits and other small animals that has made their way into rescue organisations due to many different reasons. We are hoping to provide a 'safe haven' for these animals, find them a loving home and to be able to educate people on the best ways to care for their new additions. We hope that with your help and generosity we will be able to give these animals a brighter future.
