We are fundraising to record our debut EP this summer and get our own special version of contemporary folk music out onto the scene.

New stretch target

Any additional money we make will, in the first instance, minimise the amount of our money we have to put in to finish the project. Anything we make which leaves us with surplus after covering the basic costs will go towards recording extra parts to make the music even more exciting, and if we've STILL got surplus we'll just keep recording more tracks until we run out of money!

Project aim

We are fundraising to record our debut EP this summer and get our own special version of contemporary folk music out onto the scene.

About the project

The Highway Home are a 3-piece contemporary folk group based in Bristol. We have been playing around the south west for over a year now, and with a couple of album's worth of material under our belts and many requests for a CD, the time has come to record our debut EP.

We play live with just violin, mandolin and guitar, but for the EP we would like to add some of the groovy bass riffs and drum parts we have written to give the EP a distinct listening experience from our live set. We also play a huge variety of music and would like the EP to showcase as many different parts of our repertoire as possible, so we are going for more tracks than a usual EP package.

Recording and producing an EP is a costly project. Costs include but are not limited to:

  • New strings
  • The actual recording - studio fee, equipment hire, recording, mixing and mastering
  • Paying any session musicians who help us out on the recording
  • Design and printing of CD and cover art
  • Paying royalties to musicians who's compositions we have arranged
  • The sheer amount of tea we will need to drink to get us through the process

Even saving all the money we make from gigging, we will inevitably have to throw in quite a lot of our own money to get all this done. The more we can raise, the more tracks we can do, the more attempts we can make at each track to make sure we get it perfect, and the more professional the finished product can be.

We hope you will want to hear our music as much as we want you to hear it and donate whatever you can.
