Our studio is knackered. We're building a new one. For £500 (less than $1000!) we will rename the station to WHATEVER YOU WANT for a week!

Project aim

Our studio is knackered. We're building a new studio. We need money to do this - can you help?!

About the project

Tone Radio is the University of Gloucestershire's student radio station. We're based on Park Campus, in Cheltenham, UK, and have had the same studio with the same equipment for almost 10 years.

For those of you who work in media or broadcast, or even know ANYTHING about the business, you'll know that 10 years is a long time. Things change rapidly.

Not only that, but Tone Radio is a unique position. This position was best described by our secretary Jack McPhillips, who said:

"Tone Radio - where half the stuff is nearly broken, and the other half is nearly fixed."

Without the studio upgrade, Tone Radio may fall off air soon. As well as the 50 people that weekly do shows on the station, there's a community of 10,000 who potentially listen to Tone every week. Imagine the disappointment when their favourite student presenters disappear from the airwaves...

All we need from you is help. If you have anything to give - PLEASE GIVE IT! It'll help us develop the next generation of broadcasters who are capable of amazing things. The likes of Ricky Gervais, Yvette Fielding, Beardyman, MC DRS, Soak, and Brit award-winning band Jump The Shark have all been interviewed on Tone this year. These opportunities are simply unrivalled, and it'd be a heck of a shame for everyone at Tone to not get the chance to continue doing what they love.
