The Free Glades Project is a life long experiment to discover the true meaning of what it is to be free.
The project is currently run from Oxfordshire, but in Spring 2018 will operate permanently from our site near Gabrovo, Bulgaria. The land currently consists of a dilapidated house and 3 acres of overgrown orchard woodland overlooking the Balkan Mountains, abundant with food and resources to aid us in developing this forgotten landscape into a gift economy operated service centre, providing space for experimentation with tools for resilience and finding sustainable solutions through global connections.
We invite others who share our understanding of the importance of transitioning to more sustainable ways of being to join us each step of the journey, through documentation and action learning during every stage of its development. Using the Permaculture Ethics and The Free Glades Principles as a guide, we aim to provide short and long term opportunities for others to develop personal and community driven ideas without economic exchange, allowing them to create sustainable solutions to environmental problems and test new ways of learning that they can take away and implement elsewhere, creating networks of support and resilience through communities worldwide.
Gaia University will be a powerful force in helping me to streamline the project from the beginning. Their experience in action learning will enable me to ensure that the free glades really can make a difference. They have offered me a 25% scholarship for a diploma in Action for Resilience. This fundraiser will cover the rest of my tuition. My wife and I have spent two years saving to get the free glades off the ground so we can provide a new action for resilience based project at no financial cost to our community.
